Give Someone a Fresh Start: Donate Toiletries and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to AAA Washington’s Annual Soap for Hope Campaign

More Than 1.2 Million Items Donated Since 2008

BELLEVUE, Wash. (October 27, 2020) — AAA Washington is teaming up with 21 charities around Washington and North Idaho to help our neighbors in need. This is the 13th year for AAA’s Soap for Hope campaign to collect and distribute unused, unopened toiletry items to local charitable organizations. This year, AAA is also requesting PPE contributions to fight the spread of COVID-19. The campaign officially kicks off Nov. 2, when AAA stores in Washington and North Idaho begin accepting donations, and continues through Dec. 30.

Soap for Hope was initially created as a way for AAA members and clients to donate unused, travel-size toiletries they acquired on trips. We began accepting unopened soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles in 2008, and since that time, we have donated more than 1.2 million personal items to dozens of local charities.

“As hotels begin to transition away from offering individual toiletries, our members have stepped up by donating full- and economy-size items. This year, we’re also requesting PPE to help curb the spread of the coronavirus in our communities,” said Jennifer Cook, AAA Washington’s Senior Manager or Corporate Communications.

Want to give someone a fresh start in your local community?

Please consider donating the following unused, unopened, travel-, full- and economy-size items in original packaging to our 2020 partner charities:

  • Soap/body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss
  • shaving products, combs/brushes for all hair types
  • menstrual products for all body types
  • hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, disposable gloves and disposable face masks.
