During the first full week of October, travel agents met a new milestone as more Washingtonians moved beyond dreaming about travel to purchasing trips.
- Overall new travel bookings reached 75% of those made during the same week in 2019.
- New cruise bookings nearly matched 2019 levels, at 98%.
- With summer travel over, a lower demand for rental cars led to lower prices. Travel agents saw the average daily rate drop from $222 the week of September 19th to $86. That reduced price is still $30 more than the same period in 2019.
- AAA travel agents reported a 19% week-over-week increase in new hotel bookings, putting them just 3% shy of 2019 levels for the same period. The average price for a room is a bit lower than pre-pandemic rates at $169 per night compared to $174 in 2019.
