AAA Travel Agents Are Here to Help
Have you booked travel with AAA Washington? Do you have second thoughts on traveling or cruising because of the COVID-19 outbreak? No worries. We understand, and AAA travel agents are standing by to help.
Call your travel agent with any questions or concerns.
Here is a snapshot of how we can support you in these uncertain times.
Considering your alternatives
Your travel agent can walk you through your travel alternatives. Instead of cancelling, you may have options like changing your itinerary, travel dates, or destination. If your travel plans are upcoming this month or April and you don’t want to travel or go on a cruise, your travel agent can look into getting you future cruise credits with the cruise line or the tour company. These future travel credits will need to be used within a designated period. By doing so, you don’t have to decide now. This may help you avoid some cancelation penalties.
Determining the best time to cancel
Because of the COVID-19 situation, many cruise lines, tour companies and airlines are changing their cancelation policies. AAA travel agents are in constant contact with our partners to know these changes and communicate them to you. For example, one cruise line has changed its cancelation policy from 90 days prior to departure to 30 days, and another to just seven days prior to departure. The situation is evolving, so rushing to cancel a trip or a cruise that is scheduled for later in the year, this fall or next year may not be your best option. Talk with your agent about the best time to cancel, if that is your choice.
Understanding travel insurance
If you purchased travel insurance with AAA or you are considering purchasing a policy from AAA for future travel, your travel agent can assist you with basic questions. For detailed policy questions and coronavirus coverage inquiries, your agent may suggest talking directly to Allianz or your other insurance provider because they will have the most up-to-date information. If you have a policy through Allianz, you may want to keep an eye on its website for coverage alerts.
Booking your future travel
Cruise lines and many travel companies are planning specials and offers to entice people to travel again. If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities, your travel agent can keep you informed, especially if you are canceling a trip now and going to take future credits.
Finalizing your new plans
Your travel agent can make it all happen. Once you get answers regarding your alternatives, travel changes, and the best time to cancel or reschedule, your agent can walk you through the process and make it as easy as possible to get your plans changed.
