AAA Roadside Service for Bicycles

Bike Trouble? Have Your AAA Card Ready.

If your bicycle “breaks down,” you can count on your AAA membership.

Although we don’t change bicycle tires or repair broken bike parts, we’re happy to transport your inoperable bike, including tandem bikes and trailers if they fit on our service vehicles.

This benefit is available at no additional charge to all AAA Washington members, so there’s no need to sign up. The service will count as one of your yearly service calls.

You can request help as you would do for emergency road service, and we’ll come to the rescue — just like we did for Marc Nordlund.

“It was late and I was too tired to try changing a flat tire in the dark,” says Nordlund, a bicycling AAA Washington member who used the service last year. “While I was paying the cab fare, [AAA technician] Simon had already unloaded the bike and was holding it for me in my driveway.”

Nordlund recommends using the word “bicycle” rather than “bike” when requesting service so that it isn’t confused with a motorcycle. Many of our trucks are equipped with bicycle rack arms for safe transportation.

So the next time you strap on your helmet and put your mettle to the pedal, remember to take your AAA membership card along for the ride, just in case.
