Joy, Adventure and Childhood Memories Found Along the Way
Three AAA members share special moments and photos that they captured along their road trips and explain why they made lasting memories.
“Total Freedom and Beauty”
“You stand there for a while and take it in, try to photograph it, but you just can’t capture it because the land is so massive. The land goes on forever,” says Nanci Veenker, AAA member about Moab. Veenker and her husband took a road trip this past September in an RV from their home in Federal Way to Utah. Read their road trip story and how they fell in love with the scenery at the destination as much as the adventure to get there.
“I’ve got to get my shot!”
AAA Washington member Deborah Gardner and her husband took a quick getaway in late December 2019. On a grey and windy day on Dec. 30, they left their home in Des Moines, drove to Longview and then down the Oregon Coast to Seaside and Cannon Beach.
“You go down memory lane as you drive!”
This past December, AAA Washington member Doug Williams took a long drive through Idaho to his home near Coeur d’Alene. Instead of sticking to the direct route, Williams veered off into country that he knew well, keeping the radio off and watching the countryside roll by in silence. The road trip brought back dear childhood and family memories.
