2018 Hall of Fame Inductees

2018 AAA School Safety Patrol Hall of Fame Class Recognized

“The force” was strong with Washington’s top 10 AAA School Safety Patrollers on Friday, May 4. The 2018 Hall of Fame class and advisor of the year, Terri Marshall, waved from the Safeco Field grass while fans, fellow patrollers and a light saber-wielding Mariner Moose recognized their exceptional work keeping students safe.

The Star Wars themed night at the ball park added excitement to the patrollers’ big night. There were high-fives from Chewbacca as he headed onto the field. Rey, Darth Vader and legions of Storm Troopers roamed the stadium, interacting with the students. Rolling in at just the right time, R2D2 and BB8 made it into a group photo of the Hall of Fame class and Marshall.

Prior to the on-field festivities, the students received their AAA School Safety Patrol Hall of Fame awards in front of parents and siblings. They heard an impassioned speech from Marshall, a AAA School Safety Patrol advisor at Poulsbo Elementary for the past 11 years. She thanked the students for the inspiring contributions they’ve all made to their patrols and larger school communities.

AAA created the School Safety Patrol more than 90 years ago and partners with local agencies to bring the program to elementary schools across Washington. The safety patrol has been credited with being a major contributor to the substantial reduction in traffic related fatalities of school age children (ages 5-14).
