Adventure Travel Can Be For Everyone

Adventure travel is a hot trend right now, but you may be wondering what exactly it entails.

“Adventure” may conjure visions of climbing in the Himalayas or trekking through gorilla country in Rwanda. Although these journeys can be called “adventure travel,” there are less daring adventures that meet the definition and suit just about any taste or desire.

For example, imagine a winter tour of Switzerland, Austria and Germany that includes taking a horse-drawn carriage ride through stunning alpine scenery, tasting glühwein (mulled wine) and fresh-baked lebkuchen at a Salzburg market, or enjoying a few refreshing steins in Munich’s charming beer halls.

Piqued your interest? Great. Now I would like to share one of my favorite family-friendly vacations. It is a journey that includes ziplining through cloud forests, squawking along with colorful toucans and soaking up the scenic splendor of Costa Rica.

You can experience adventure travel closer to home as well. Become one with the wild natural beauty of Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park, all while staying at a rustic and cozy mountain ranch. Hike through gorgeous landscapes, take jeep rides through Monument Valley, enjoy a family-style meal in a Navajo home and so much more.

No adventure travel rundown would be complete without an Iceland vacation. One of my favorite journeys showcases the land that produced Viking legends. Explore geothermal hot springs, chill at Europe’s largest glacier or cruise the breathtaking Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.

No matter where your next adventure takes you, AAA Travel can take care of you from start to finish. And don’t forget to check our events page — we’re adding exciting new travel events all the time, including many with an adventure travel theme.

Happy trails!
